and speaking of moe... anyone heard that October 31 show where the played the entire Dark Side Of the Moon ?

Actually, due to the sheer volume of dead material here, it might make sense to have a whole dead subsection/forum...

this is a great place to expand your musical horizons...

maybe instead of "if you liked that dead show, listen to this dead show", we might try some if you like that dead show/song/set check out This Other Band...

I was on tour with the dead once, and at night, in someone's home, I put on a tape. It was a GREAT tape of some 'non-dead' band. after it was playing about 15 seconds, my friend summarily pushed eject, plucked out the tape and unconcernedly flipped it over his shoulder saying "That's not the Grateful Dead". needless to say it's been over 14 years since I have seen him... nobody here like THAT is there?

Ooh, yeah, Hank Williams III is awesome! He's sooo much better than his dad (though his grampa is, of course, in a whole 'nuther class). The only reason I didn't mention him before is I thought he might be too, er, punk for your average deadhead. Not enough deadheads are open to such a wide variety of musical styles (which is why I'm kind of in the closet about being a deadhead these days, even though I attended hundreds of dead shows in my day).

I wanna say thank you guys for such your positive reaction to my original post. I was really afraid I was going to get yelled at for that, even though I tried to be nice about the whole thing. And I want to thank you all for the many recommendations. I'll definitely check some of these bands out.

And yes, don't forget to support the bands! Just last month, I went, for the first time in my life, to see a band that had I discovered solely because they made their music available for free on the Internet. I've been pretty broke this year, but I decided that I had to scrape the money together to go see the band after all the hours of great shows I'd downloaded. (Radiators 10/19, in case you care.) If you take nothing else away from this thread, take away this reminder: SUPPORT THE BANDS! :)

cheers, y'all
